The effectiveness of mindfulness- based stress reduction training on parent- child conflict and bullying in single mother- headed adolescents

Abstract:

: Mindfulness-based stress reduction is a group program that uses a combination of mindfulness meditation, body awareness and Yoga asanas with the aim of increasing mindfulness. The aim of the current research was to investigate the effectiveness of mindfulness- based stress reduction training on mother- child conflict and bullying in single mother-headed adolescencents in Ahvaz. This study had experimental method including pre-­test and post-­test with the control group and one month follow-­up. Statistical society of research has consisted of male students in 2017-2018 school years. In research, thirty student were selected through the available sampling method and randomly assigned to one of two experimental and control groups (fifteen person per group). The experimental group participated in eight sessions of 90 minutes mindfulness-based stress reduction training; the control group received no intervention.  After training both groups, post-­test and follow-­up were carried out. The parent- child conflict scale (PCC) and Illinois bullying scale (IBS) were used. Our findings based on covariance analysis showed that training program of mindfulness- based stress reduction Has had a meaningful effect on decrease parent- child conflict and bullying and this decrease has also been stable in the follow-up stage. Due to the effectiveness of training, implementation of such educational programs by Psychologists, school consultant and Other family therapists is recommended.
